There are a number of restaurants/Café’s and Bars that offer free wifi, you are usually expected to buy a customary drink while in the restaurant or bar. You will need to ask for a code to access the internet. Access could be restricted to one hour but you can always ask for another code.
Internet providers
If your phone is ‘unlocked’, you can buy sim cards for your phone with some credit for around 5 euros for phone or internet use.
If you have a MIFI device or a DONGLE to use for internet usage, it MUST be ‘unlocked’ before you can use it here in Cape Verde and not tied to a contract e.g. Vodafone. If your device is unlocked you can buy an internet sim card at internet shops to use in your device at the apartment or anywhere on the island.
TMais (Unitel) and CVTelecom are the two internet service providers in Cape Verde. On Sal Island there is another provider called Cabocom. You can also purchase internet credit for about 15 euros for a week from Cabocom.
Hotel and resort wifi
Free wifi and access to the internet at resorts or hotels may be restricted to certain areas. At some resorts there may be a charge per day, so you may find it better to use free wifi elsewhere.
