Hotels and Resorts

Most tourists travel south to the hotels in Santa Maria, the main tourist resort on the island of Sal.

Most of the hotels in Santa Maria are situated on the new road named 'Hotel Boulevard' with the Oasis hotels, Smartline Crioulo, Farol, Dunas de Sal, the Sabura (closed) is near the Riu Funana Princess. Further along the west coast you have Tortuga Sol Melia, Dunas Sol Melia, Llana Beach Resort and Paradise Beach.

The Portuguese hotel chain Oásis Atlântico opened a new hotel 'Oasis Salinas Sea' in 2012 and is a five-star hotel unit with 338 rooms.

There are new hotels and resorts due to open in 2017, the Sal Hilton and Ponta Sino being two of the main ones.

There is also Aquamarine Suites which has been taken over by the Spanish hotel chain, Hotel Experience.

Some of the older hotels in Santa Maria include The Pontao, Da Luz, Sobrado, Nha Terra.
