A number of water sports enthusiasts visit islands such as Sal and Boavista in the winter as the winds can be quite strong and favourable for those who are keen on Kite and Wind surfing. Sometimes when the winds are up, sunbathers in open spaces may find it un pleasant to sunbathe, while those staying in hotels with sheltered swimming pools may not even notice the wind, other than finding the breeze cooling. However people should be aware that even on these windy or even cloudy days they should wear sun factor, as the hidden sun rays will stream through the clouds and will burn you. The winds sometime drop May-June and it starts to become hotter through to October-November.

Yes it does rain here occasionally during the different months. however the rain does tend to occur more in August-September. Some islands may receive more rain than others, those living on the more mountainous islands will welcome the rain for their crops, while those on other islands having a beach holiday may be disappointed. Occasionally it will rain on part of an island but be clear on other parts.

There is no guarantee however that there won't be inclement weather at any time!
